Five arrested in Tennessee meth bust

About three hours northeast of Memphis is the small town of Dresden, Tennessee. The county seat of Weakley Count is the site of the recent arrest of five people. The two men and three women are all charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell, as well as other charges.

The arrests were made after county deputies and town police officers served a search warrant and found 35 grams of meth on the property.

Law enforcement officials said there was a child inside the residence as well. Two of the people taken into custody were charged with child endangerment as well as the possession with intent to sell charge.

According to a news report, two people who ran when police arrived at the residence were charged with evading arrest in addition to possession of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A fifth person -- a 31-year-old woman -- was also arrested for possession of meth with intent to sell and drug paraphernalia possession.

If convicted on all charges, the defendants in this case face the possibility of prison time, fines, probation and more. Depending on a wide variety of factors, parents of young children can face additional punishments that can include loss of custody.

A skilled criminal defense attorney can help you protect your rights and freedom. An experienced defense lawyer will investigate the charges, examine the state's case and help you decide if a plea bargain is in your best interests or if you would be better off pleading not guilty and proceeding to trial.

If you have been arrested in Memphis on drug charges, speak with a defense attorney before you talk to a prosecutor.
