Six Tennessee men and women face meth charges

Perhaps best known as the home of the University of Tennessee at Martin, Weakley County is a little more than 130 miles northeast of Memphis. According to a news article, the area was recently where a half-dozen people were arrested on drug-related charges.

The Weakley County Sheriff’s Department said its officers found methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia when they raided simultaneously raided two apartments in Martin.

The Weakley County deputies were assisted in the raids by local police officers and the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

Law enforcement officials said that when officers served a search warrant at apartment 22, they found meth, weed and paraphernalia, along with a 41-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman. In the other apartment, officers found methamphetamine, heroin, marijuana, marijuana and unidentified pills. They also found digital scales, pipes and needles, they said.

They arrested four people inside the apartment: two men, ages 49 and 34, and two women, ages 38 and 23. All four were charged with possession of a Schedule 2 drug intended for sale.

Officials said more charges might be filed after the confiscated substances have been tested by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s crime lab.

According to state law, those arrested and convicted of the manufacture and delivery of cocaine or methamphetamine can face between 3 years for a Class C felony or 12 years for a Class B felony, depending on the amounts of drugs involved.

If you face incarceration for drug charges, decline to talk to prosecutors. Speak instead with a skilled lawyer experienced in drug crime defense.
