Tennessee police captain charged with DUI

Only by devoting oneself wholeheartedly to a career in law enforcement can a person rise to the rank of captain in a modern police department. So when we read the news that a 52-year-old captain in a Tennessee police force about 200 miles northeast of Memphis had been arrested on DUI charges, it was immediately clear that the accusation threatens not only his freedom and driving privileges, but his career as well.

Report: Tennessee DUI arrest rate down dramatically over decade

Tennessee media outlets are carrying the news that a recent report shows that there has been a significant drop in drunk driving arrests in our state over the past decade. In 2009, there were 494 DUI arrests in Tennessee per 100,000 residents. By 2018, the rate had plunged to 300 arrests per 100,000 residents – a drop of 39.2 percent.

Optometrist arrested in alleged pot-growing operation

If you drive southeast of Memphis for a couple of hours, you will come to Colbert County. The sparsely populated Alabama county is home to a 36-year-old woman who was recently arrested by Tennessee officials in connection with a marijuana-growing operation.
