Actor facing DUI charge

Though he has graced movie screens in comedies such as “Wedding Crashers” and “Dodgeball,” he has also played characters in dramatic films such as “Hacksaw Ridge” and the remake of “Psycho.” But according to a report by a Memphis TV station, actor Vince Vaughn will be in a very real courtroom after being charged with driving under the influence.

Vaughn was arrested at a sobriety checkpoint in Manhattan Beach, California, back in June.

According to the report, the arrest was at about 12:40 a.m. He has also been charged with resisting, delaying or obstructing officers.

If he faced the DUI charge here in Tennessee, he would be subject to a wide variety of punishments if convicted. For a first offense, those punishment could include the following:

  • From 48 hours to up to 11 months and 29 days in jail
  • Revocation of driver’s license for a year (you can apply for a restricted license, however)
  • Participation in an alcohol treatment program
  • A fine of up to $1,500
  • Installation of an ignition interlock device (at your expense)

A second offense can mean a license revocation of up to two years, as well as a fine of up to $3,500. Jail time is from 45 days up to 11 months and 29 days.

It is also possible upon a second DUI conviction for the court to seize your vehicle.

The penalties for a third or fourth DUI offense are even harsher. Fines can go as high as $15,000 and your Tennessee driver’s license can be revoked for up to eight years.
