Law enforcement officials east of Memphis said two men were recently arrested after they allegedly robbed a suburban Nashville hotel at gunpoint and sexually assaulted a female clerk there.
According to a news report, the two men, 26 years old and 25 years old, each face felony charges of aggravated assault and aggravated robbery. The 25-year-old has also been charged with aggravated rape, police said.
Officials said the men walked into the Hyatt Place Hotel in Brentwood around 3 pm wearing black clothing and with their faces covered. The pair allegedly demanded that employees give them money from the hotel’s cash register.
After their demand was obeyed, one suspect reportedly held a hotel clerk at gunpoint while the other suspect allegedly sexually assaulted a 37-year-old female clerk.
Afterwards, the two ran from the hotel to a nearby apartment building. According to an article in The Tennessean, police say the pair was later seen leaving in an orange Ford sports car. They were then spotted on a nearby interstate highway and followed by police to a fast food restaurant. The two men were then taken into custody by Nashville law enforcement officers.
Obviously, both men face the possibility of spending years behind bars in a state prison if convicted on the very serious charges they face.
People in similar situations should decline to speak to investigators or prosecutors about the evidence or allegations until after they have sat down and spoken with a criminal defense attorney experienced in protecting rights and freedom.
